CAREER PROFILE

Following a first class honours degree in Applied Ecology from Manchester Katie worked for the Sheffield Wildlife Trust surveying and monitoring Trust reserves including Phase 1 habitat surveys of hay meadows, heathland, acid grassland and woodland.

She then worked for RPS in Huddersfield undertaking Phase 1 and NVC habitat surveys for major developments including windfarms and road schemes.

She is a licensed surveyor for great crested newts and has undertaken surveys for a range of other protected species.

Recent projects include NVC surveys of an upland SSSI and SPA site, detailed botanical surveys of upland fringe sites in Northumberland, County Durham, Yorkshire and Lancashire and extensive surveys for great crested newts and other amphibians.
