WORK HISTORY

Following a degree in Agricultural Economics, Mary has spent much of her career working in business management and property. This has included 9 years building up and running one of the largest student letting agencies in Newcastle, office management and valuation with General Accident and several years with land agents Savills in York, building up their country house sales department.

Mary is responsible for business and financial aspects of the company and project and office management. She has an Intermediate Certificate in Supervising Health & Safety and has undertaken a range of courses on protected species and plant identification.

She is actively involved in a range of protected species work and has undertaken numerous bat surveys as well as other protected species surveys including otter, water vole, badger and red squirrel. She has specialist knowledge of protected species, licensing and the planning process.

SOME RELEVANT PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN

Recent projects have included:

  • Extensive bat surveys and transects to inform planning applications, analysis of results to inform mitigation strategies, and post development monitoring of bat populations. Sites range from single dwellings to large school and farm complexes quarry sites and proposed wind farm sites.
  • Surveys for otter and water vole along watercourses throughout northeast England and Scotland, to inform planning applications and/or mitigation proposals.
  • Badger surveys in northeast England and Scotland to inform planning applications and Natural England licence applications.
