Dr SAM BRIDGEWATER BSc PhD. - Botanist PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
CAREER PROFILE Sam has worked for the Natural History Museum for four years, and co-wrote the Flora Celtica, a book looking at the traditional relationships between the Scottish people and the native flora. He has taught botanical field skills to MSc students at Edinburgh and Leeds Universities in recent years and undertaken contract field surveys for SNH, the Scottish Executive and Heritage Lottery Fund. He has undertaken extensive taxonomic and research work in rainforest ecosystems in Brazil and Belize, and is currently finishing writing a flora for forests in Belize. He is a research Associate of the Natural History Museum and Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and has a particular interest in the utilisation of non-timber forest products and the relationships between people and their local plants. Current projects include NVC surveys of SSSIs and 18th C designed landscapes, EIAs and audits of Magensian limestone grassland habitats in County Durham. |
