CAREER PROFILE

Sarah has left us and is now working for Aberdeen University.

Sarah has a first class honours degree in Zoology from Aberdeen and a PhD in Mammal Ecology from Liverpool. Post Doctoral research projects have included studies of poxvirus in grey squirrel populations to model infection of red squirrels, research on sheath-tailed bats in the Seychelles and studies of pathogens in water vole in Scotland.

She has also worked on use of vegetation corridors by Pipistrelle bats and radio-tracked and mist netted bats in the Bialowieza Forest in Poland to assess roost preferences of Noctule and Leisler's bats.

Ornithological projects have included studies of hen harriers on Orkney, monitoring of raptor migration in Pennsylvania and she is training for her bird ringing licence.

Current projects include surveys of historic buildings for use by bats and assessment of restoration and redevelopment impacts, breeding bird and vantage point surveys for windfarms and other developments, and a water vole survey of north east England for the Environment Agency.
