E3 have been involved in a wide variety of projects, collaborating with a broad client base. Below are just some of the projects completed over the past decade. 

  • Provision of call on protected species advice to English Nature (now Natural England) Northumbria region including development of bat survey guidelines.
  • Provision of call on protected species advice to the Heritage Lottery Fund.
  • Assessment of road schemes for the Scottish Executive.
  • Production of habitat management plans for Northumberland National Park, Northumberland Wildlife Trust, Newcastle City and Prudhoe Community Partnership.
  • Ecological impact assessment for windfarms in Scotland and England including all specialist survey requirements.
  • Pre-purchase audits for protected species and ecological planning constraints.
  • Regional surveys of freshwater pearl mussel and water vole for the Environment Agency.
  • Bat and barn owl surveys of numerous old rural buildings before conversion or renovation.
  • Ecological assessment of proposed opencast coal mines, subsequent development of restoration plans and restoration of upland heathland and mire habitats.
  • Monitoring of upland bird populations including hen harrier, black grouse and golden plover in relation to potential effects of open-casting.
  • Monitoring effects of disturbance from recreational use on high tide wader roosts in the Firth of Forth SPA.
  • Assessing the use of traditional farm buildings and stone barns by bats through the year and assessing the optimum means of survey.
  • Otter survey to assess the potential impacts of new road improvements in Scotland and development of mitigation measures.
  • Great crested newt surveys of development sites and nature reserves.
  • Phase 1 botanical surveys and NVC survey of a range of sites includingthose of national and internation importance (SSSIs, SPAs and SACs).
  • Ecological assessment of the potential impacts of the restoration of 18th Century designed landscapes including Hackfall, Hardwick, Axwell Hall, Bolam Hall, Cheeseburn Grange and Gibside.
  • Assessment of the impact of new overhead powerlines in England and Scotland and the upgrading of existing infrastructure.
  • Crayfish surveys to assess the potential impact of bridge and weir maintenance works.
  • Reptile surveys of disused quarry sites prior to extension or restoration.
